Off here today.
Sat on the Shelfside (East Stand Upper).
I can expect two things.
- A good sing song. Martin Jol is coming home today.
- 90 minutes of nail biting nerves. Final game of the season and I can’t wait for that whistle to go.
Que sera, sera but hopefully things go our way today.
Jol to help Spurs win.
Hodgson to end his final game as West Brom manager with a win over Arsenal.
Agent Pienaar to stuff the Geordies.
COYS!
This is the best thing about Blackburn coming to the Lane every season. “England’s Number 1”.
I don’t know how many have seen this video. It’s actually shit in comparison to another because it doesn’t tell the whole story.
A dip in form sees Paul Robinson or ‘Robbo’ loses his place in the Carling Cup semi final win (5-1 haha!) against Arsenal. Seems to be out of favour with Ramos and Spurs head to Prague in the UEFA Cup.
Out of nowhere before the game Robbo heads over to the away fans. Gets the fans to be silent and.. “Spurs are on their way to Wembley”. Fans love it and join in.
Minute or so later the video above the fans call Robbo back over.
For some reason the initial video of Robbo starting the chants is no longer on Youtube but the man will always get a warm reception at the Lane. I’m not going today but it’s the only reason I usually look forward to the games against Blackburn.
Gutted it ended the way it did for Robbo here because he’s my favourite keeper we’ve had at the club in my time as a fan
This is the big one for me. Traditional maybe opposed to the modern fans who’d sooner finish 4th than win a trophy but give me the cup any day of the week.
I want this cup so badly. I was born in 88 so we’ve won it once in my lifetime but I was far too young to experience 1991. I’ve seen that and the semi since then but it’s not the same, even if they were fantastic wins.
2001 was difficult to take having grown up on stories of ‘The year of the 1’ and the first proper 1 I experience we lose in the semis to that lot.
1999 was just as painful. Extra time at Wembley in the semi final and Shearer killed the dream :(
Sadly the picture above was of similar pain. I took this at Wembley prior to the F.A Cup semi against Pompey in 2010.
Today we play Bolton in the quarter finals, hoping we go all the way this year. COYS!
Saw the video for this a little while ago. Spurs fans head to Charlton in the F.A youth cup with a win/lose attitude we’ll sing our hearts out regardless. No importance on the result, back the players, enjoy the game, create an atmosphere and a boost to the players out there.
We lost 1-0 with pretty much the last kick of the game which saw Charlton go through but a good 200-250 Spurs fans went which is crazy for a youth cup game.
I don’t know when the next time they’ll organise another game but I’ll look to do it one game.
What a day this was. Some class players that have moved on since but we were fantastic for 120 minutes. I’d have felt cheated had we not won this. Everyone was superb and then Woody scored that goal <3
I’m just gutted I wasn’t there. Short by something stupid like 10 loyalty points. (I got to see us lose to United and Pompey though - fantastic)
Hopefully we can lift another trophy in May :D
I wonder how Jack Wilshere is liking this?
I know the season isn’t over yet but how good does this look right now?
Made sweeter with Wilshere saying he’d give money to charity if we finished above the gooners.. 12 points clear, not long till you’ll be getting your chequebook out :D
I’ve not really posted anything the last few days. Busy and all that.
Thought I’d give you a picture of the Lane though. I’m going to the game straight from work tonight - hopefully there’ll be no train delays.
Anyway this will roughly be my view tonight. In the Paxton lower. Hopefully it’s a good game, I love evening games but then I can’t see Wigan bringing more than 50 fans so the atmosphere could be a little flat.
COYS!
That game was absolutely sickening. At 2-0 I had no hope, which was fine. I’d sooner have lost there than lose the way we did.
94th minute penalty costs us the game, the player that wins it shouldn’t be on the pitch and then he scores with the last real touch of the game.
As for that player, who else but Balotelli? Part of me just has to laugh at how bad a challenge it is, saw Parker down and thought Balotelli might have caught him but it couldn’t have been any more cynical when you see the replay.
Webb has a perfect view aswell - ridiculous.
I’m not sure the F.A can take action either if Webb has seen it and put it down as accidental. I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure that means they’ll be unable to take action which is a ridiculous rule.
Lescott however I expect to be facing a ban for his elbow.
Proud of our performance today but absolutely gutted to lose it - especially in that manner. Chelsea, Newcastle and Liverpool have dropped points this weekend though so we’re looking good for a Champions League place still.
